Weddings
Weddings in the world vary as much as the people do. But many weddings include certain traditional customs.
The bride and groom often exchange rings. This tradition dates back to primitive times, when a circle was thought to be magical. Couples in some tribes would be encircled by woven grass and flowers to ensure the marriage of their souls.
The tradition of a honeymoon dates back to ancient German customs. When a man captured his bride, the couple would hide from the bride's parents before marrying. The couple would remain in hiding for a further cycle of the moon after the wedding. During this period they drank honey wine.
In the party, the bride and groom exchange vows. It is traditional to use the words "To have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part".
