For a long time now, science fiction has shown people traveling through space. And of course many astroanuts have also experienced space travel. But space tourism for ordinary people is just beginning.
The first space tourist was a US engineer and millionaire, Dennis Tito. In 2001, he paid for his own trip as a member of a Russian Soyuz Spacecraft visiting the International Space Station. He spent almost eight days in space, going around the world over a hundred times. Since then, a few more people have become space tourists, at a huge cost, from 20 to 35 million dollars.
