值得注意的另一个问题是，单词记忆效率的提高不仅取决于科学而有效记忆单词的方法，还取决于一天中记忆单词的最佳时间。大量实验结果表明：上午8～10点钟和晚上8～10点钟是记忆单词的最佳时间，因为在这个时间里，大脑中担负记忆任务的脑细胞已基本上得到较好的休息，所以记忆效果最佳。

 

英语当中,有很大一部分词的词根是一样的,学生如果能够掌握词根的意思,就可以在此基础上记忆其它的单词,达到事半功倍的效果。如black-,blackbird(山鸟类)、blackboard ( 黑板) 、blacksmith ( 铁匠) 。再比如: -ceive, receive( 收到)、perceive(察觉)、conceive(构思)等。

 

如果把意义相反的词放在一起进行对比， 就显得一目了然， 便于记忆。如：big—small,heavy—light 等。还有些词拼法、意义不同但读音相同，即同音词，如：meet (v. 遇见)—meat (n. 肉)，它们词类不同，词形和词义各异，但都读[mi:t]。又如：there(adv. 在那里)—their(pron. 他们的)，都读[奁藓藜]。He is over there.（他在那儿。）This is theirfootball. （这是他们的足球。）我们利用它们的读音来帮助记忆，对比归纳出它们的功能和用法，就很容易记住这些词了。
